How Unsung Heroes of America collects, uses, and protects the information you share with us.

The short version. We collect only what you choose to send us through our forms, we use it only to respond to you, we never sell it, and you can ask us to delete it at any time by emailing unsungheroesofamericainc@gmail.com.
Who we are
Unsung Heroes of America (“UHOA,” “we,” “us”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity, EIN 47-3982494, based at 1280 Coffee Rd, Lithonia, GA 30058. This policy covers www.unsungheroesofamerica.org and the forms on it.
What we collect, and where
We do not require an account, and we collect nothing about you simply for reading this site. The only personal information we receive is what you type into one of our three forms and submit.
1. Get Help form (get-help page)
- First and last name
- Email address, and phone number if you provide one
- The kind of help you need — housing or shelter, employment, VA benefits, Aid & Attendance, food or clothing, life skills, mental health resources, or something else
- Anything you choose to write describing your situation
2. Volunteer application (volunteer page)
- First and last name, email address, and phone number if you provide one
- Your areas of interest and availability
- Whether you are a veteran or military family member — this field is optional and includes a “prefer not to say” option
- Anything you choose to write about yourself
3. Contact form (contact page)
- First and last name, email address, and phone number if you provide one
- Your reason for contacting us, subject line, and message
About sensitive details. The Get Help form asks about your housing situation and the support you need. We understand that is personal. We treat it as confidential, share it only with the UHOA team members working on your request, and never publish it, post it, or use it in fundraising materials. Please do not send medical records, Social Security numbers, or financial account numbers through this website — if we need anything like that, we will arrange a secure way to receive it.
How we use it
- To respond to you and provide the help, role, or answer you asked for
- To connect you with the right program, partner organization, or VA resource
- To keep basic records of the services we provide, which our status as a nonprofit requires
- To send you a donation acknowledgment letter if you have given and asked for one
We do not use your information to send marketing email or newsletters unless you have asked us to.
Who else handles your information
We use a small number of outside services to run this site. Each one sees only what is necessary, and each has its own privacy policy.
- Formspree delivers our form submissions to our email inbox. Your form contents pass through and are stored on their systems.
- GitHub Pages hosts this website. Like any web host, it records standard technical request logs, which may include IP addresses.
- PayPal and GiveWP process donations on our donation page. Card and bank details go directly to PayPal — UHOA never sees or stores your card number. We receive only the donor name, contact details, and amount needed to acknowledge the gift.
- Google Workspace hosts the email inbox that receives your messages.
What we never do
- We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information
- We never share your information with advertisers or data brokers
- We never publish or name the veterans we serve without their explicit written permission
We disclose information outside UHOA only with your consent, or in the rare case where the law requires it or where someone’s life or safety is at immediate risk.
Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts. There is nothing here that follows you across other sites. Our donation page is a separate WordPress site at give.unsungheroesofamerica.org, and it and PayPal do set cookies needed to process a donation securely.
How long we keep it
We keep what you send only as long as we need it — to answer you, to provide the services you asked for, and to keep the service and donation records a nonprofit is required to maintain. When it is no longer needed for those purposes, we delete it. You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.
Your choices
Email unsungheroesofamericainc@gmail.com or call 470-510-0392 and we will:
- Tell you what information about you we hold
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete your information, unless we are legally required to keep it
- Stop contacting you
You never have to give a reason, and asking will never affect the help you receive from us.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Material changes will be noted here rather than made quietly.
